Data only becomes information once it's harnessed for insights. To do so requires more than instantiating a database and writing a few queries, as Dr. Clark Shah-Nelson explains the caveat that organizations can lose knowledge as fast as they can create it. Key to the leadership challenge surrounding Knowledge Management is defining a strategy more inclusive than of just IM tools, wikis and collaborative technologies. He discusses with co-hosts Brian Comerford & Nick Lozano the criticality of change management, effectively working within teams, and information architecture and governance using principles of Agile Instructional Design. More than simply capturing the subject matter expertise of retiring Baby Boomers or job-hopping Millennials, having the proper KM foundation in place can foster organizational learning retention and further facilitate innovation with the emergence of semantic web technologies powered by artificial intelligence.
